Event Design

November 2012

We wanted it to be a short night: the President would win re-election early and we could all celebrate. Confidence was high and we were very well equipped in the confetti department. But an early night would mean we'd need to quickly get 30,000 people into the largest convention center in the country so they wouldn't miss the party.

As Site Deputy for Election Night 2012, I led the wayfinding and signage efforts for the event, directing guests through coat check, security checkpoints, and the event site. I worked with our production staff to ensure a beautiful event site, including on-brand environmental graphics, media support, and ADA-compliant accomodations.

For the more than 150 pieces of large-scale signage created for the event, I coordinated signage production with vendors and in-house design team, and directed and oversaw union worforce installation.

I also led a team of 50+ advance staff in day-of customer service/troubleshooting operation implementing a complicated event logistics plan including arrival and departure movements for VIP guests.

And all of our guests made it in time to party, dancing the night away.
